Building a PMU Business in 2023

Starting a PMU business today couldn't be more easy, but at the same time it's more difficult then ever.
SO what if I had to start over TODAY.... 
What would I do?

Starting any new business can be daunting, but with the right mindset and strategy, you can turn your passion for PMU into a successful career.  If I had to build a PMU business from the ground up starting to today,I would first and foremost get training and start practicing


Once to have learned a technique and and have practiced your heart out and are ready to start taking on clients...
It's time to get the word out about your business. This can be done through a variety of channels such as social media, word-of-mouth referrals, and advertising.

When it comes to social media, focus on platforms that your target audience uses the most.

For example, Instagram and TikTok are great for showcasing your work, while Facebook and LinkedIn are better for building professional connections.

But don't rely solely on social media to promote your business. In the beginning you may need to consider offering discounts or referral programs to incentivize new clients to come to your new business.  You can also attend local events and networking opportunities to get your name out there.
You may even need to do free work to just so that you can get pictures to showcase your work.
Even today, I still do free model work when I learn a new technique and want to get clients in the door for a new service.

Once you start getting clients, it's important to provide an exceptional experience from start to finish. Exceed their expectations.
This includes creating a comfortable and inviting environment in your studio, being attentive to your clients' needs, and delivering high-quality work. Remember, happy clients are more likely to recommend you to their friends and family. Even Today 11 years and over 15,000 clients later, I make it a point to over deliver on my promise to every client and student that come through my doors.


  

As your business grows, it's important to keep track of your finances and stay organized.

This is one big mistake I made in the beginning.  and I wish I could go back and change it.  No matter your income level, you'll need to find a good CPA and financial advisor.   At very least, consider investing in accounting software to help with invoicing, expense tracking, and financial reporting. This will not only save you time but also give you a clear picture of your business's financial health. Trust me! It's best to start getting into the habit of doing this immediately. You need to know where your money is and where it's going.  Do NOT be ignorant to the financial health of your business...  If you choose to ignore this critical part of business ownership, you may wake up one morning with no business at all.



SO my last tip is to invest in yourself and your education.
This is one of those ideas that continues to pay dividends in my business.

Attend workshops, conferences, and webinars to stay up-to-date on the latest PMU techniques and trends. This will not only help you improve your skills but also make you a more valuable resource to your clients, students and colleagues

Remember, building a successful business takes time, effort, and dedication. But with the right strategy and mindset, you can turn your passion for PMU into a thriving career.
